Certification Europe Expansion Set to Assist Northern Ireland’s Private Sector
Dublin, Ireland – September 15, 2010
According to a report published by the House of Commons Library (July 2010), Northern Ireland’s public sector employs about 30% of that region’s work force; a figure that is well ahead of other UK regions and one that points to the importance of expanding the private sector. Key to business growth is international certification; achieving recognition for complying with high standards that are recognized around the world. Certification Europe, an Irish-based firm that assists private sector companies in attaining international standard certifications is opening a new Belfast office to bring services to businesses there.
“Achieving certification in international quality management, health and safety, business continuity, information security, or energy management indicates that a company is highly credible, and positioned to win international business.” says Michael Brophy, CEO of Certification Europe. “When a company markets their certifications, they differentiate themselves from competition that cannot prove similar high standards.”
While its Belfast office is new, Certification Europe is not new to Northern Ireland. Clients there already include British Telecom, the UK’s telecommunications giant, Singularity Ltd., the region’s largest software development companies, and Mivan, a specialty construction firm.
Having done business in Northern Ireland, Certification Europe realizes the benefit of establishing its own local presence. “Having local staff near clients offers real advantage,” says Brophy. “We offer real understanding of the local business climate and culture, can establish a face-to-face relationship with clients, and are able to immediately response to client questions.”
Cost-effectiveness is another benefit that Northern Ireland clients will enjoy. By taking advantage of locally offered training courses, they’ll save the time and money. “Rather than fly to London or another UK city to spend time in a hotel conference room, we’ll bring the training right to their doorstep,” says Brophy.
Certification Europe will be offering three courses in international standards and compliance:
Information Security Management –a review of international standards for data security
Business Continuity Management – best practices for anticipating and eliminating the business interruptions caused by unforeseen events and disasters
Energy Management – information for manufacturing and other companies that need to reduce power usage and associated costs
Certification Europe is itself an international company with clients around the world and offices in Dublin, Turkey, Japan, Italy, and now Belfast.
“This is a challenging time for companies around the world,” says Brophy. “We’re very glad to be in Northern Ireland where we can directly assist companies in gaining the important competitive advantage that international certifications bring.”
